A Wanganui man has been sentenced to two years and seven months in prison for manslaughter after helping to inject a woman with methadone - a drug implicated in her death.
Matthew Shane Johns, 36, was charged in June 2012 with Sanchia Wilson's murder.
But during a pre-trial hearing in the High Court at Wellington last month, he admitted an amended charge of manslaughter.
Miss Wilson was taken off life support at Wellington Hospital on April 1 last year - four days after she fell unconscious after being injected with methadone.
Johns was sentenced by Justice Ronald Young in the High Court at Wellington this morning.
