Wallaceville chemical spill alert

A chemical spill sparked a full-scale emergency at the Wallaceville Animal Research Centre in Upper Hutt yesterday.

Firemen donned protective suits before entering the centre to mop up acetic acid on a laboratory floor.

Six fire trucks with about 20 firefighters attended the incident. It is not known what caused the spill.
