Despite a frantic effort, emergency services were unable to revive a man who died after what is believed to have been a boating accident on Auckland's Waitemata Harbour.
Police say the incident occurred in Gardiner Gap between Motutapu and Rangitoto Islands.
Early reports suggest the man may have somehow fallen out of his boat. The Westpac Rescue helicopter flew a paramedic across, but even after 40 minutes trying to revive the man, he died.
