Work on an $8 million project to replace 7km of asbestos cement sewage pipeline between Waitangi and Paihia in the Bay of Islands is expected to start by the end of July.
Failures in the line have already spilled more than 2250 cu m of raw sewage on to land and into the Waitangi River since February, bringing public health warnings.
