Wairarapa senior women's bowls selector John Polson believes his side has the potential to be an upsetting factor at a quadrangular tournament to be played at Paraparaumu this week.
Polson agrees Wairarapa will take on the outsider's tag in matches against the likes of Wellington and Manawatu but believes they only have to "click" to become the surprise packets of the event.
"It's all about handling the pressure of the occasion", he said. "Do that and anything could happen."
In the singles spot for Wairarapa will be Judith Wyeth while Avis Cooper will skip the pairs with Robyn Schischka at lead. The triple will consist of Liz Bondy at skip, Daphne Traynor at two and Jean Paku at lead.
Polson is also selector of the Wairarapa women's development squad team which will compete at their quadrangular tourney at Waikanae.
That team will have Maria Steffert in the singles, Darkie Barrow and Wendy Mitchell in the pairs and Anne Hollis, Mavis Jones and Leigh Tematangi in the triples.
Wairarapa senior men's selector Dennis Richard has also named his teams for the quadrangulars. They are:-
Senior at Paraparumu: Ian Monaghan (singles), John Claydon and Les O'Donovan (pairs) and John Polson, Graham Tindall and Brian Schischka (triples).
