Wairarapa United manager Phil Keinzley was pulling no punches after his team's 2-1 loss to Kapiti Coast United in their Capital Soccer premier division match on Saturday.
Keinzley said the first half display, which ended with Wairarapa United trailing 2-0, would rank as the worst of the entire season
"There was no intensity, the passing was poor, the option taking was awful & it couldn't have been much worse if they had tried," he said.
The second half did see some improvement with Wairarapa United pulling one goal back when Lai Gataurua netted but there was also the frustration of several other prime scoring chances being wasted.
"It was one of those days when the ball kept hitting the crossbar rather than going in the back of the net. I'd hate to think how many times that happened," Keinzley said.
Defender Petero Dauniseka was one of the few Wairarapa United players to impress, defending solidly and always looking dangerous on the counter attack. Strikers Gataurua and Pita Rabo also had their moments but too often lacked support.
