Wairarapa United are to default their Capital Soccer premier division soccer catch up match with Waterside-Karori next weekend after losing 4-2 to Upper Hutt at Upper Hutt on Saturday.
Manager Phil Keinzley said the signs from the Upper Hutt game were that a long season had left Wairarapa United flat and that with nothing to play for it made sense to call the Waterside-Karori match off.
Keinzley said a "very average" first half during which Upper Hutt scored two unanswered goals was the key factor in Saturday's result.
With Fijian international Petero Dauniseka unavailable changes had to be made to the Wairarapa United defence and Upper Hutt had taken advantage of weaknesses in that area.
Things did improve in the second half with Pita Rabo and Lai Gataurua scoring goals for Wairarapa United but with Upper Hutt scoring two more as well the halftime gap stayed the same.
Chris Looye, playing in the centre of the midfield, had a strong game for Wairarapa United and Rabo was his usual dangerous self whenever the ball came his way.
