The national Maori outdoor bowls tournament will be played in Wairarapa in February 2007.
It will be only the second time the event has been held here, the first being about 20 years ago.
Organising committee secretary Karyn Burling said the event would be held over four days with fours being the only discipline played.
With upwards of 500 players expected to participate all greens throughout Wairarapa are likely to be used for qualifying matches and the venue for finals day is still to be decided.
That decision could be made at a public hui to be held in the Frank Cody lounge of the Masterton Town Hall on April 18, starting at 7pm.
"We will be discussing all aspects of the tourney at the hui,"Ms Burling said. "Activities both on and off the green have to be organised and it's important we start the planning process now."
