Wairarapa are through to the zone finals of the national inter-centre men's bowls tournament after winning their area competition at Taradale over the weekend.
They finished with 12pts, two clear of Hawke's Bay on 10pts with Gisborne-East Coast and Manawatu both on 6pts.
Leading the way for Wairarapa was the pair of John Claydon and Les O'Donovan who won all three of their games.
Singles player Mike Bowden had two wins and one loss and the triple of Ian Monaghan, Graham Tindall and Warren Fisher one win and two losses. Selector Dennis Richards said consistency and the ability to respond positively to pressure situations were the key to the Wairarapa success.
The zone finals will be held at Palmerston North on March 30 and April 1.
