Wairarapa placed third overall at the junior quadrangular tennis tournament which saw them pitted against Hutt Valley, Kapi Mana and Hawke's Bay.
It was Hawke's Bay who called the tune, winning the 10 years, 12 years and 14 years sections for both boys and girls.
The 10 years event was held in Masterton and here the Wairarapa line-up was Toby Tuoro, Edward Phelps, Mitchell Blackwood and Fraser Dymond all of whom were having their first taste of tennis at this level They were involved in some closely contested games and will benefit immensely from the experience.
The 12 years event was hosted by Hawke's Bay with Wairarapa losing to the powerful Hawkes' Bay and Hutt Valley sides. Kapi Mana was unable to field a boys team and Wairarapa had a 9-3 victory over them.
Contesting the boys section for Wairarapa were Jamie Osborne, Monty Petrie, Angus Petrie and Jack Sowry while in the girls section Kristy Renall and Zoe Schofield had a 6-3, 6-3 doubles win against Hutt Valley as did Anlo van Deventer and Zoe Paris, who won 6-4, 6-4. Schofield and van Deventer also had singles wins, Schofield by 0-6, 6-2, 7-6 and van Deventer by 6-3, 6-2.
Against Kapi Mana van Deventer and Paris won their doubles 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 and also won their singles, van Deventer by 6-1, 6-0 and Paris by 6-2, 6-3.
The Wairarapa 14yrs boys team of Henry Bateman, Kirk Collins, Kota Maeno and Myles Collins won four of their six matches against Kapi Mana and five out of six matches against Hutt Valley. However, they did not manage a win against Hawke's Bay.
The Wairarapa 14 years girls team won three out of six against Hawke's Bay, two matches againsrt Hutt Valley and five against Kapi Mana.Highlight was the effort of Ashleigh Gane who won all her singles and doubles matches.
