Wairarapa teams made a big impact at the Prince Phillip Equestrian games held at Belmont, Lower Hutt last weekend.
Two teams from Carterton-Kowhai and Rimu- and one from Martinborough took part and they featured prominently in the results.
The Kowhai line-up of Rochelle O'Hara. Ana McLennan, Rosie Collier-Wall and Brittany Paton was placed second in the teams event with the Rimu combination of Kelsey Dewis, Becky Blackwood, Nicky Barton and Meg Barton coming fourth.
The young Martinborough side of Melissa Cameron, Crystal Cameron, Abby Diederich, Gabriel Vollebregt and Eamonn Pearless were unplaced but competed
strongly against quality opposition.
In total six games were played?.three mug race, litter race, hurdle race, pyramid race, potato race and flag race.
A spokesman for the Carterton teams said discipline was the secret to their success with riders concentrating on making very few mistakes rather than worrying too much about their speed.
The Carterton club will now send a team to the Pony Club zone finals in Hawera on March 5.
