A stalwart of Wairarapa netball, Kim Whiteman, has been appointed general manager of the Netball Wellington Region.
Whiteman has been closely involved with the administration of Wairarapa netball for several years, including serving as manager of the local centre.
She has also taken an active role in coaching and wascoach of two of the teams playing in the Wairarapa premier grade last year: Carterton and Martinborough.
Netball Wellington Region chairwoman Kerry Prendergast said Whiteman's appointment and that of a new development manager, Liz Page, were part of a restructuring process that saw the two positions advertised widely.
"We were looking for people with the confidence and ability - and the passion - to lead a team to deliver our regional strategy."
Prendergast said Whiteman would be charged with leading the organisation and its staff through the changes envisaged, including the setting up of effective centralised finance and ICT systems.
Wairarapa is one of five centres in Netball Wellington Region, the others being Kapi-Mana, Kapiti, Upper and Lower Hutt and Wellington.
