Hell Pizza is coming to Masterton.
Stuart McMullin, Hell Pizza director and co-founder, said yesterday the successful pizza chain would open a Masterton shop within two months, the second major fast-food chain to build in the town this year.
Burger King is due to open at the end of the month, and KFC's restaurant is undergoing a major revamp.
Mr McMullin said the branch would create up to 15 jobs - about three full-time and a dozen part-time positions - but would not confirm where the franchise would be located until a franchise-holder was selected.
"Potential franchisees are completing preliminary training by the end of this weekend and building would take about three weeks," he said. "All going well, we hope to be open in the next six to eight weeks."
Mr McMullin said the company had 63 branches throughout New Zealand, which will expand to 66 with other new sites opening in Porirua and Auckland, and more than 15 international sites in four countries.
"We've just completed an opening in New Delhi, India. Also, we are opening our first store in Seoul at the start of August and our second site in Dublin.
"We're opening in all the big locations ... New Delhi, Dublin, Seoul, Masterton."
Mr McMullin earlier said Hell Pizza, which burst from the tomb in 1996 as a cramped kitchen in a Kelburn squash club, had usual set-up costs in city centres of up to $200,000.
However, an ongoing provincial business model trialled in Feilding last year had yielded success with an establishment cost of under $150,000.
