Wairarapa went on a goal scoring spree on the second day of the Hatch Cup national primary schoolboys hockey tournament being held in Invercargill, beating Mid-Canterbury by a whopping 13-0.
That such a big win was on the horizon didn't seem likely at halftime at which stage Wairarapa led by 4-0 but they completely dominated the second half, adding a further nine goals to their tally.
Joseph Robertson scored five of the Wairarapa goals with others going to Zac Caldwell (3), Matt Howard (2), Zac Hardie, Dean Gray and Hamish Finlayson.
Wairarapa had previously lost to North Harbour 3-0 and beaten Wellington 4-1 and are well in contention for a quarter-finals berth.
The Wairarapa Collier Trophy primary schoolgirls hockey team came up with a bit of everything in the first two days of their tourney in Nelson. They lost to Taranaki 2-0, drew with Horowhenua 2-2 and beat Bay of Plenty 2-1.
