More than 140 people will descend on Wairarapa this week for the first Holstein Fresians New Zealand annual conference in the district for a decade.
Wairarapa Holstein Fresians Association secretary Dale Collie said the 2015 conference would launch today with an awards presentation and dinner, and run through to Thursday.
She said the conference agenda was packed with visits to association member farms and properties in the region, and visitor attractions throughout Wairarapa, "from the Tui Brewery in the north to the Tauherenikau Racecourse in the south".
She said the conference was held once in a decade in Wairarapa and conference-goers would attend from across New Zealand and as far away as Australia.
"We are pleased to have the numbers we have, especially considering the drought and the payout, and now we're just hoping for some reasonable weather to go along with it."
