Jamie Holmes and Oliver Burt grabbed the limelight as the Wairarapa under-13 boys cricket team scored an easy win over their Wanganui counterparts at Masterton on Sunday.
Holmes scored 96 of just 122 balls as Wairarapa reached a healthy 214-9 in their 50 overs He came in at number five and enjoyed a 62-run partnership with Mark Cummings who made 28.
Another valuable partnership was that between Holmes and Reece Hannam which produced 68 runs while Alex McColl hit a quick 14 runs late in the innings.
Burt was in outstanding form as Wanganui fell well short of the Wairarapa total. He put down five overs and finished with 3-7.
Other Wairarapa bowlers to shine were Tom Byl who conceded just 15 runs from his five overs, Mark Cummings who took 2-3 from four overs and Jamie Holmes who had 2-7 from three overs.
