Capital city rockers Head Like A Hole and Auckland-bred metallers 8 Foot Sativa will stage a double bill debut in Wairarapa to launch a nationwide tour for the veteran bands.
Head Like a Hole have been a part of the New Zealand rock landscape since 1990 and the upcoming winter tour supports their sixth and latest original album, Narcocorrido, says tour spokeswoman Kylie Leggoe.
Narcocorrido is a Mexican folk music subgenre title meaning drug ballad in Spanish and the double act tour of New Zealand includes 10 dates starting in Masterton at King Street Live on July 22 and ending at the Studio in Auckland in early August.
The album Narcocorrido was released in April and was "a marked departure from the bombastic sabbathness" of 2010's Blood Will Out, Ms Leggoe said.
With the inclusion of Simon Nichols on bass, the album had allowed Head Like a Hole "to experiment in the songwriting department while doing what they do best -- pump out massive grooves and spit and hellfire guitar with Nigel 'Booga' Beazley's unique vocal style holding it all together".
