Wairarapa colleges step up

The Battle of the Colleges will take centre stage when the last of the preliminary round matches in the Bidwell Cup senior men's interclub cricket competition are played in Wairarapa this weekend
The McBride-Peterson Cup will be at stake when Wairarapa and Rathkeale colleges do battle at Wairarapa College tomorrow and Sunday, while the other fixture between Flight Centre Lansdowne and Red Star at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval will only be of academic interest.
Both sides have already qualified for the Bidwell Cup final, to be played on March 12-13.
There will be no clear favourite in the college encounter, with both teams looking to have similar strengths in the batting and bowling departments; a situation which would suggest a couple of interesting declarations could be required.
