Wairarapa B beat their Hawke's Bay counterparts by 29 runs in a representative men's cricket match played at Queen Elizabeth Park Oval on Sunday.
Batting first Wairarapa completed their 50 overs on 212-9 with just three players making it into double figures.
Wairarapa College duo Alex Treseder and Robbie Anderson were in good touch at the top of the order with Treseder making 33 and Anderson 65. The latter was the only player in the match to pass the half-century mark and impressed with the wide range of strokes he displayed.
Academy's Steve Coleman came in at number seven and struck some decent blows in his 32 while the difficulty some of the Hawke's Bay bowlers had in maintaining a good line and length was demonstrated by them conceding a remarkably high 54 extras.
It was another Wairarapa College player in Daniel Ingham who took the limelight with the ball for Wairarapa. He finished his 10 overs with 3-42 as Hawke's Bay got through to 183. Academy players John Samwell and Coleman both had economical spells, Samwell taking 2-21 and Coleman 2-18.
