Wairarapa athletes bagged 11 gold medals at the Wellington track and field championships held in atrocious conditions at Newtown Park, Wellington on Saturday.
Michael Wilson provided the highlight for Wairarapa on the track, winning both the 100m and 200m senior men's titles.
His respective times were 11.14secs and 22.31secs.
Ellen Schaef also won a notable double on the track, winning the 100m in the women's 19yrs grade in 13.21secs and the 200m in the same age group in 26.27secs.
The girls 14yrs 400m event was dominated by Wairarapa's Stevie Paine who registered the excellent time of 59.62secs.
Other impressive efforts on the track were: Bevan Brown, second in boys 14yrs 400m in 67.44secs; Joel Farley, second in boys 14yrs 800m in 2min 15.51secs; Laura McKenna, second in 14yrs 100m in a personal best of 13 40secs; Molly Creagh, third in girls 14yrs 200m in 28.43secs and third in girls 14yrs 100m in 13.89secs; Renee Braggins, fourth in women's 19yrs 800m in 2mins 45.68secs; Tom Quinn, third in boys 14yrs 400m in a personal best of 57.59secs; Vicky Paine, third in women's 19yrs 800m in 2mins 20.49secs; William Simpson, third in boys 16ys 200m in 23.24secs and fifth in boys 16yrs 100m in 23.24secs.
The men's 19yrs field events saw Joshua Greig win no fewer than four titles & shot put (12.19m), discus (28.53m), javelin (32.22m) and hammer throw (no distance listed).
Joel Farley was also a title winner, taking out the boys 14yrs triple jump with a personal best leap of 10.18m
Courtenay Fafeita won her hammer throw event in the women's 16yrs grade and was second in the shot put (8.86m), discus (33.16m) and javelin (17.01m).
