Waikato University is lifting its domestic student fees by 3.78 per cent next year, gaining the university an extra $1 million.
Vice-chancellor Bryan Gould said the university had suffered financially since 2001, when the Government introduced a fee freeze.
The fee increase means degree programmes may cost an extra $200 to $300 and masters degrees will cost 5 per cent more.
