KEY POINTS:
Waikato police got a messy surprise when they pulled over an erratic driver.
Police caught up with the car on State Highway 3 near Airport Rd, after a tip-off from a member of the public.
The first officer on the scene says after seizing the man's keys he noticed there was a bottle of bourbon in the car.
He then realised there was vomit over the front seats of the car where the driver and passenger were sitting.
It is alleged the driver had a breath alcohol reading of 1020, more than twice the legal limit.
He is due to appear in the Hamilton District Court today.
