Waikato police have confirmed they are getting closer in their search to find the owners of four precious family photo albums found dumped in a city gully.
The albums - black, pink, brown and blue - were handed in to Hamilton police after found on in a gully on the Bankwood Rd side of Donny Park on July 27.
On their Facebook page, Waikato police said despite their efforts and searches, they have so far been unsuccessful in tracking the owners down.
"We need your help! Please share," they posted. "Photo albums can be so invaluable, especially when they have been handed down through generations.

"Through the power of Facebook we need your help to get these albums back to their owners. They were handed in as found property, and one of the front counter team members of the Hamilton Central Police Station has made it her personal crusade of months of work already, to get these back to their owners /family members.
"Numerous searches have come up with no results, and we have had no albums reported stolen or missing."
However, some eagle-eyed followers have discovered one of the photos posted on the Gisborne Photo News on October 4, 1962.

The caption of the wedding photo prints the names of those believed to be in the photo as Robin Jean McKinley [bride] and Frederick James Jones [groom]. The best man, far left, is printed as David Jones, of Gisborne, while the maid of honour is Mary Shipp, also of Gisborne.
The couple to the right are quoted as being Carol Hibbert, of Gisborne and Desley Jones, of Wellington. The flower girl is printed as being Rosalie Jean Stringer, of Trentham.
However, Waikato police have again updated their post this afternoon confirming that a 'Mr Hibbert' does live in Gisborne and they were currently speaking to a first cousin of someone in the photo who could accurately describe the albums.
"If this is the case,the mystery will be how the albums ended up in a park in Hamilton.
"Watch this space and please continue to share until we find the rightful owners," police wrote.
Police posted that the albums looked to be from the 1950s-1960s which were full of similarly scripted pages/photos.
One of the books is full of weddings the family have attended around the 60s, 70s and 80s, along with trips to Japan, Australia, Honolulu also in the 1960s and 70s.
