KEY POINTS:
Waikato police are looking for a Waikeria Prison inmate who escaped earlier today.
Thomas Harris was reported missing from the prison shortly before 7am.
The 24-year-old is described as being 1.7m tall with brown hair cut in a "number two" style.
Harris was jailed for two-and-a-half-years in June last year for burglary and theft offences and has previous convictions for assaulting police and resisting arrest.
Police said Harris should not be approached and people should contact police if they see him or know of his whereabouts.
