A man who died at his Meremere home on Monday morning was the victim of a violent assault, police say.
A post mortem examination on the body of the man, named today as 49-year-old Michael Patrick Robert Bull, was carried out yesterday.
The results indicated Mr Bull was the victim of a violent assault, police said.
Police said they were continuing a scene examination at the address. They were also carrying out inquiries to determine what happened before Mr Bull's death.
No charges have been laid and police said they would like to hear from anybody who may have information that will help them with their investigation.
