Two nurses were attacked by a knife-wielding man as they made their way to work at Waikato Hospital last night.
Detective Constable Lucy Southall said the nurses had parked their car on nearby Horne St when a man suddenly knocked on the driver's window shortly after 10pm.
"The man then opened the car door and threatened the pair with a knife before telling the women to get out."
The driver kicked at the attacker and both women refused to leave the car.
"After a short while the attacker fled the scene in the direction of the hospital and the Pembroke, Selwyn St intersection."
