Waikato head-on crash victim named

A woman killed in a head-on crash in the Waikato yesterday has been named.

She was Carolyn Anne Wrightson, a 52-year-old from Gordonton, Hamilton.

Ms Wrightson died at the scene of the crash, which happened on State Highway 3, northeast of Otorohanga at 1.45pm.

The driver of the ute Ms Wrightson's car collided with was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.

Waikato road policing manager Inspector Leo Tooman said the crash was still being investigated, but initial indications were that Mrs Wrightson's car failed to take a gentle left-hand bend and collided with the ute.
