Police searching for a missing Waikato farmer are appealing for sightings of his vehicle before it was found abandoned in a rural part of Northland.
Father-of two Amanjeet Bains, 29, left his Morrinsville home in his blue Holden Commodore, registration ELW514, on April 18.
Police believe Mr Bains drove to Auckland, and continued on to Orewa, where he bought alcohol from a liquor store before travelling to Warkworth.
"He filled up his Holden Commodore there before dining at a Warkworth restaurant about 8.30pm," Detective Sergeant Rod Carpinter said.
His abandoned vehicle was found in a secluded rural area near Totara North, on the Whangaroa Harbour, north of Kaeo, at 8am the following morning.
Police were not notified about the vehicle until four days later.
Mr Carpinter said police had searched the area four times while family carried out air and sea searches with the assistance of Far North Search and Rescue members.
He said police would like to hear from anyone who saw the vehicle in the Northland area or had contact with Mr Bains.
