A surge in job ads in the Waikato has been put down to a buoyant local economy.
Latest figures from the ANZ bank show the number of job ads in the Waikato during December was 12.4 per cent higher than the same month last year.
Waikato Chamber of Commerce president Steven Saunders says the region is emerging as a very strong growth-oriented economy.
He is also expecting the number of job ads to remain high.
Steven Saunders says the latest figures come in the wake of a survey done in March last year.
He say 60 per cent of chamber members said they would be taking on new staff in the next year.
