The Waikato District Health Board is setting up a fraud hotline to uncover those ripping off the system.
The DHB's investigators have uncovered $170,000 worth of fraud in the past two years.
It includes the theft of food from the hospital kitchen, theft of mobile phones, cleaners and nurses stealing drugs, an employee using a fuel card to fill their own vehicle and an electrical contractor who overcharged by at least $150,000.
Chief executive Clive Climo says the hotline will make it easy for staff and members of the public to report suspicions.
