A Waikato barman was held up by two men armed with a boning knife and a galvanised pipe, before they took off with cash and alcohol overnight.
Two men wearing bandanas over their faces entered the Te Aroha Club, in Te Aroha, 47 kilometres north-east of Morrinsville, about 10.20pm, Detective Steve Langdon said.
"The lone male staff member was just locking up when the pair entered. They forced him back into the bar area and took a few bottles of alcohol and money from the till and safe before fleeing the club," he said.
The barman was not injured.
"Police would like to hear from anyone in the area about the time of the robbery that may have seen or heard anything suspicious and would also like to speak to anyone with any information on who was responsible."
