Police are seeking information that could help reunite stolen service medals to their rightful owners.
The medals were taken during a burglary in Waihī along with two Stihl chainsaws, a hedge cutter, cordless drill, angle grinder and battery, wedding rings and other personal jewellery.
According to a police statement, the theft took place at an address on Trig Road North between 6pm on Sunday and 2pm on Monday.
“The seven service medals are of extreme sentimental and historical value, and are of great importance to the victims and their family,” police said.
“Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Trig Road North area between Saturday evening and Monday afternoon.”
