Untouched home delivered meals led to the discovery of an elderly man who had been lying on a kitchen floor in his Auckland home for up to three days.
The 70-year-old, who lived on Waiheke Island, had last been seen by neighbours several days ago.
Concerns were raised when meals on wheels delivered to his address had not been moved from the spot they were delivered to.
Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter's intensive care paramedic Ross Aitken said the person who delivered his daily meals on wheels noticed some of the pre-cooked food packages hadn't been moved from their usual place and contacted police.
When the Waiheke officers entered his Onetangi home late yesterday afternoon they found the householder collapsed on the kitchen floor.
