The end of the Wai Notts social group has resulted in a $500 donation to the new St John Wairarapa health shuttle.
The Masterton chapter of the Red Hat Society, a women's social group, was calling it a day and had some money left over, said member Judy Cundy.
"It was a fun group but it's run its course. It's a bit sad.
"We found we had some money in the bank and we thought we'd give it to a good local cause."
The first Red Hat Society started in the late 1990s in the United States to help women aged 50-plus approach the "autumn" of their lives with positivity and gusto. Ms Cundy said no one was organising the group any more and their group's "Queen", Lyn Greenwood, was moving to Wanganui.
