The coaches were still talking after the top-of-the-table Wellington secondary schoolgirls premier division hockey match at Clareville on Sunday.
St Matthew's Collegiate and Wairarapa College fought out their second 2-2 draw is an many matches this season with Wairarapa College, as holders, retaining the Dunce Memorial Cup as a consequence.
"I guess it made the trip home a bit easier, at least we were still talking," St Matthew's coach Abby Hill joked after the shared result with a Wairarapa College side coached by her partner Willie Schaefer.
Hill said the match was literally a game of two halves
with Wairarapa College clearly having the better of the first half and St Matthew's likewise in the second. Both St Matthew's and Wairarapa College are already guaranteed to be involved in the semi-finals of the Wellington competition next month with their main opposition likely to come from Samuel Marsden College, with whom St Matthew's drew 2-2 last Friday.
The St Matthew's team will be the recipient of expert coaching and advice from two current Black Sticks players, Kayla Sharland and Emily Naylor, on August 12.
