Wairarapa College are through to the next round of the national knockout secondary schoolgirls cricket competition after their nail-biting victory over Palmerston North Girls
College at Wairarapa College
on Friday, the winning runs being scored off the third last ball of
the match with no wickets to spare!
PNGHS batted first and reached 191 with the major contributors being Jaimee Morrah ((78), and Hollie Cleaver (30).
Bowling for Wairarapa College, Jessie Bennett took 3-17 from 8 overs, Kelsi Rutene 2-40 off 7 overs and Georgia Burton 1-12 from 2 overs.

AJ Aporo and Anna Keen
gave their innings a solid start with Aporo making 29 and Keen 11.
Others to score well for them were Julie Malcolm (26), Georgia Burton (25 ) and Jessie Bennett (22).
It was a tense finish though with just three balls being left to bowl and nine wickets down when Esther Crispin hit the winning single.
The best of the PNGHS bowlers were Jaimee Morrah (2-34), Hannah Morgan (2-25), Jane Barnett (3-31) and Micheala Curtis (1-23).
The Wairarapa College team also won their opening match in the Wairarapa women's competition, beating St Matthew's Collegiate bv eight wickets.
St Matthew's were put into bat and were all out for 74 in a 20-over game.
Libby Monaghan made 22 and Jade Forman 15 while bowling for Wairarapa College AJ Aporo took 2-12 and Tania Lowe 2-20.
Wairarapa College attained their target for the loss of only two wickets, Georgia Burton's unbeaten 34 being the top score. Olivia Christie took 1-13 for St Matthew's.
