Happy days are here again for the nation's whitebaiters who will be setting their nets in search of their favourite tiny delicacy.
The season opened yesterday and Marcus Albrecht, of Wellington, was one of the first at his favourite spot at the Waikanae River Estuary on the Kapiti Coast. This year he introduced his son, Wade, 2, to whitebaiting, but admits his catch so far was "not very good".
"We got a couple."
His favourite recipe? Fry 'em with egg.
