KEY POINTS:
Police are examining security camera footage as they search for a bank robber who held up the National Bank in inner city Auckland this morning.
A man demanded money after entering the bank in Vulcan Lane, off Queen St, about 11.11am, Detective Constable Rob Parker said.
Mr Parker said threats were made to a female staff member, after which an undisclosed amount of money was handed over.
Police were not saying how much money was taken or whether a weapon was used.
He said police were trying to examine the security camera footage this afternoon.
"He was wearing a baseball cap and dark clothing, but it gives you a pretty clear look at him," Mr Parker told NZPA.
The robber was described as a light skinned Polynesian or Maori in his early 20s, of medium height and build with a goatee-style beard.
He was wearing a black baseball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, full length dark grey cargo pants and white shoes. He was carrying a cream and black coloured pack on his back.
Bank spokeswoman Virginia Stracey-Clitherow said no staff or customers were injured.
