Pacific Island leaders are organising "Voter Sundays" for people to get a better understanding of the local body elections.
In an attempt to boost the low voter turnout among Auckland's large Pacific Island population, church and community leaders have urged people to bring along their voting papers and information booklets to church meetings.
Among the help on offer are translation services and how to fill in the ballot papers. To ensure the process is fair, political candidates are not allowed to participate. The Auckland region is home to more than 178,000 Pacific Islanders, including 86,616 in Manukau and 50,166 in Auckland City.
