KEY POINTS:
People have just one day left to cast a vote in the local body elections with a record low turnout predicted for many councils throughout the country.
The polls close at noon tomorrow and votes not in the hands of returning officers at the cut-off will not be counted.
Dale Ofsoske, an electoral officer for five territorial councils in Auckland, said people who wanted to post their votes today would have to pay extra for fastpost to guarantee their ballot being counted.
Voting papers come with a pre-paid standard post envelope.
For people who leave voting to the last day, ballot boxes are available at council offices, libraries and at the Independent Election Service's office at 360 Queen St, which is acting for Auckland City, Manukau, North Shore, Papakura and Franklin voters.
Manukau is making things even easier by setting up yellow ballot boxes at a drive-through in Osterley Way, opposite the main council offices at Manukau City Centre.
The first results are expected to be available on council websites and this from 1pm tomorrow.
The Herald online will have extensive coverage as the results come in, including reaction from the winners and losers.
