KEY POINTS:
Most voters believe the Government is exerting too much control over their lives, a poll published today shows.
The Fairfax Media-Nielsen poll questioned 1082 voters and 57 per cent said the Government had more control over people's daily lives than they would like, while 37 per cent said it did not.
The other 6 per cent did not know.
Asked whether the level of control had increased, decreased or stayed the same over the last two years, 61 per cent said it had increased.
The poll also questioned voters about the Government's popularity, and showed Labour regaining some of the ground it has lost since John Key became leader of the National Party.
Labour scored 40 per cent against National's 45 per cent. In previous Fairfax Media-Nielsen polls, National has held a lead of more than 10 points.
