A volunteer firefighter was assaulted while trying to help a woman having seizures in Kaingaroa.
Chief Fire Officer Graham Fuller of the Rotorua Fire Service said the volunteer brigade was sent on Christmas Eve to a property where a woman was having seizures as St John Ambulance staff were about 50 minutes away.
He said the fireman had cuts and a sore head.
