Viva and Canvas fashion editor Dan Ahwa shares his thoughts on the new Olympic uniform:
"It's great to have the mix of a technical sportswear brand Peak collaborating with a New Zealand creative like Shane Hansen, who is representative of our multicultural place in the world - an idea essential to remember right now.
It is quite a timid uniform, especially compared to the more patriotic kits already unveiled. New Zealanders are often hesitant to become 'fashion plates' and we can be too humble?and that's reflected in this uniform.
"I love Shane's art, but I think it is a missed opportunity for a New Zealand fashion designer to be recognised internationally - the Italians are wearing uniforms designed by Giorgio Armani, the Americans Ralph Lauren, Great Britain in Stella McCartney and the French in Lacoste. We also have designers and brands who understand the balance of being polished and practical, whether it's for the opening ceremony or off duty in between events."
