Sheryll O'Dwyer, secretary of the Rotorua Association of Motels, said most providers were reporting no vacancies for the Saturday night, but still had a few rooms left on the Friday and Sunday nights.
"Town is pretty well full, though we are not getting too many requests now, I guess people are assuming we're completely full."
Damian Flynn, manager of YHA Rotorua Backpackers, said they were "pretty busy".
"We're basically filled up this weekend. While we can't say they are Lions supporters for certain until they check in, we have had a huge influx of bookings over this time period."
For the rugby fans travelling to Rotorua in motorhomes and campervans, there will be two official carparks to park in.
A Rotorua Lakes Council spokeswoman said the council was working with local providers and the public to ensure any motorhomes and campervans were directed to the right places.
However, the council will not be providing any extra dedicated overnight parking for campervans.
The council said it recently installed extra signage and waste facilities in the more popular areas and had increased the frequency of facility cleaning.
"Anyone outside the allocated overnight parking areas will be directed to the appropriate places by security staff contracted by the council. Rotorua is a certified Motorhome Friendly Town and there are more than 1000 powered and non-powered sites available at the nine holiday parks within the district.
"For the more rustic campers, there are at least eight overnight camping areas in scenic locations, but with limited facilities."
There are two locations in town where vehicles certified as self-contained can park overnight, one behind the Arts Village in the Government Gardens and the other by the Soundshell.
"It has free all-day parking spaces marked out for the larger vehicles, as well as providing parking spaces for cars."
