KEY POINTS:
PlayStation and Nissan are collaborating on a new project called GT Academy.
The eight-month pan-European competition takes place within the GT5 driving simulator game on PlayStation Network, but the prize is real - a four-month training programme to earn a racing licence, followed by the chance to join Nissan's 350Z team at the 24-hour endurance race in Dubai in January.
To earn a place in the GT Academy, candidates will face elimination-based competitions on and off the track. Sporty Nissans are a prominent feature of GT5.
And the roles were reversed last year when Nissan called on the game's designer, Polyphony Digital, to design the interface for the onboard computer for the GT-R supercar.
