They kickstarted the 'Running Man' challenge which became a worldwide phenomenon, and now the Police have been acknowledged for their viral video with the supreme award at the New Zealand Social Media Awards.
The awards were held last night in Auckland, with the judges noting that the post was an "absoulte sensation".
Officers busted out the 80's dance to the tune of My Boo by the Ghost Town DJ's, and issued a challenge to police from around the world to replicate it.
It was picked up by law enforcement in the United Kingdom and the United States, and the original video has more than 10 million views.
Police spokeswoman Karen Jones said they were "incredibly humbled" by the win.
