A Waikato child sex offender who breached supervision conditions has given himself up to police.
District Child Protection Coordinator, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Greene, said the 26-year-old man handed himself in to officers at the Hamilton Central Police Station shortly before 2am.
"The man had a warrant to arrest issued against him for breaching post-release supervision conditions and police were actively seeking him."
Police yesterday issued a media release warning the public not to approach the man, who has a history of violence and carrying weapons.
"The media coverage resulting from a release put out overnight that we were seeking this man is believed to be the driver behind him giving himself up and he will be appearing in the Hamilton District Court today in relation to those breaches," Mr Greene said.
