Vehicle Inspection New Zealand has said the death of one of its workers was a tragic and unfortunate accident.
A man was fatally injured at its Palmerston North testing station and another suffered minor injuries.
Chief executive Frank Willett said the incident has left management and staff deeply affected.
He extended their most sincere condolences to the families concerned and has requested privacy for them.
