An obscene Beast of Blenheim parody earned a rebuke from the Justice Minister before it was abruptly shut down.
The Twitter account emerged after outrage over sex offender Stewart Murray Wilson's transfer to a house in the grounds of Whanganui Prison. Most of the tweets were too offensive for publication.
The tweeter, pretending to be The Beast, followed a group of journalists and tourism agencies, and told Talkback host Michael Laws: "What's the big idea in trying to keep me out of Whanganui? You're not even my type."
He also goaded league star Manu "The Beast" Vatuvei: "Sit down ... there's only one beast in New Zealand. Don't make me hitch hike to Auckland to show you who's boss."
The office of Justice Minister Judith Collins was disgusted. Twitter suspended the account.
