Two Martinborough businessmen who admit taking part in a vigilante street patrol are expected to seek a discharge without conviction on weapons charges after violence charges were dropped against them last week.
Store owner Bruce Sullivan and his son-in-law, Chris Vizor, a builder, appeared in Masterton District Court on Monday, the Dominion Post reported.
Sullivan, 51, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon and Vizor, 33, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon and recklessly discharging a firearm.
They were among about 40 members of a community group which patrolled the Wairarapa town at night after a spate of burglaries this year.
The group disbanded after a run-in between the two men and local teens on May 21 in which some of the youths were injured.
Vizor and Sullivan are expected to seek a discharge without conviction when they appear again on December 21.
